Paul Shaw from Cyclesmith writes …
This year’s Duathlon is next week and still only $30. If you think you would like to come out again, please pre-register this weekend, or early next week. The price goes up $5 on Wednesday (Jun 4) night, and another $5 on race day.
Hats will be available in the Halifax store from Monday for participants to pick up early, if you choose.
Race Kits (bib number, some swag, and the hat) will be available from 7:30 on race morning. You’ll need to check in with the TNS table first, then pick up your race kit. I don’t think we will have body numbering, as many compete with long sleeves. Just ensure your bib is pinned to the front, as the timing is all done manually as you finish the runs.
The list of entrants is posted on our site. If you have any friends who are not racing this year and would like to volunteer, please have them drop me a line. We still need about 10 more gracious souls for the morning. I can offer free race registration to the 2009 event, as well as a hat and the lunch. If you volunteered last year, and want to race this year – Great!
Thanks, and good luck at the Navy Tri/Du this weekend and through the rest of the summer.

Following up on the interest at the tri-camp to have a ‘next step’, please let me ( Tom Rogers – tom.rogers57@gmail.com ) know by MAY 30th if you would like to participate in the following. Assuming there are at least 8 and a maximum of 12, it will proceed.
OVERVIEW
- DATE: Thursday evening for at least 10 weeks starting Jun 12.08
- LENGTH of WORKOUT: approx. 2.5 hours
- TYPE OF WORKOUTS: Intervals, most will be a brick (ie: swim/bike or bike/run) and there will be detailed work on transitions.
- LOCATION: mainly Lunenburg but using other venues in Lunenburg County (pool, lake and ocean swims, hillwork).
- COST: between $80-$100 depending on number of participants
The key factor is your motivation — the training will require a lot from you. Of less concern is your current fitness level and experience with triathlon. Thursday evenings will be long — please consider your situation carefully before signing up.
NOTES:
- if you are interested, please send me an email. After May 30th, I will contact the first 12 people on the list and at that time they will have to commit (and pay) if they want to participate. If there are cancellations, I’ll go to the next people on the list.
- a schedule will be sent to all the participants by Jun 6. (the schedule is subject to revisions)
- if there is interest, we may extend the program
- the focus will be geared to people that are preparing for a ‘Sprint’ or ‘Olympic’ distance event
- Colin Edwards will be the coach (Colin may be away for 1-2 of the practises)
- assuming it is a go, you will receive a detailed schedule by Friday Jun 6
