Only 3.5 k to go! Bluenose Strider (and BTC member) Barry Fisher, left, accompanies Lunenburg’s Bill Roblee (center) on his 100th Marathon at the Johnny Miles Running Race Weekend on June 15.
Bev Richardson writes …
It was a great weekend at the Johnny Miles race. Doug Coulter had gotten about 40 white technical shirts made up commemorating Bill’s 100th marathon. There is a drawn picture on the front of Bill running – it really looks like him, too. On Saturday at the pre-race dinner, all of us were wearing the shirts carefully hidden under other clothes. The announcer presented various awards, the last one to be done was a framed bib number for Bill. It was the same as the one he was given to wear at the race the next day – with the number 100 on it! As Bill was receiving his framed bib, all of us 40 shirt wearers peeled off our camouflage, revealing our shirts. Our tables were a sea of white commemorative shirts when Bill came back to sit down.
Then on Sunday, a number of people ran with Bill during the marathon – he came in to the finish line with his own large entourage of fellow runners!
