The 6th Annual South Shore Kids of Steel Triathlon takes place on Canada Day — Tuesday July 1.2008
As in previous years, it will be held in and around the Bridgewater Pool beside the DesBrisay Museum.
A really fun event, it is open to children aged 3-15. More information is available thur the Bridgewater Recreatin Department at 543-2274.
Schedule:
- 7am - BTC volunteers show up to prepare the site (if you can help, contact Steve Saunders - Steve.Saunders@highlinerfoods.com / 624-9361)
- 7:45 - Check-in opens, mandatory bike checks
- 8:45 - First wave start
- approx 12 noon - awards/wrap-up
Hey parents … if you’d like to get in on the action, consider the Riverport Duathlon on October 19, 2008. Hosted by the Bridgewater Triathlon Club, we will have two separate events — 1K run/14k bike/1k run and a 4k/run/28k bike/4k run. It is open to everyone 12 and over. Notes: the ride is cancelled this week because of the Greenwood Triathlon. Stay tuned for Sunday Rides in July — we’re planning a trip to Vogler’s Cove, another one will be a trip around the Aspotogan and another one that will include B’water, L’burg and Mahone Bay.

- 600 metres
- first Friday nite swim of the season
- altho the water is getting warmer, you will appreciate having a wetsuit!
Be sure to follow all safety rules. You are responsible for your own safety. Wear a bright swim cap. Swim with a buddy. Obey the course marshal and lifeguard.

Be sure to follow all safety rules. Always wear your certified bike helmet while in possession of your bike. Obey all rules of the road. Ride single file, complying with the draft zone. Upon return dismount your bike on the right side of the road and cross only when safe to do so. Run on the left side of the road, go to the shoulder with oncoming traffic.

Start time: warm-up: 6pm, timing starts at 6:30pm, optional Group Ride starts after TT, approx. 7:15pm
Start location: 2nd Peninsula, just outside Lunenburg. Directions/route map is here
Route:
- TT - 10km total distance — 5K flat out and back with one small hill
- Group - (optional) plan to ride for 90m minutes, moderate to hard, paceline
Difficulty: moderate to difficult
