Riverport Duathlon

We’ll have an update over the next couple of months after we’ve had a chance to review this year’s race and get our plans together for 2009.

- Sunday Registration opens at 7:30am -- see note below
- ONLINE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED - Race Director Steve Saunders will pickup registrations at the Bridgewater YMCA between 10-11am on Saturday. Otherwise, please register at the Riverport School on Sunday morning between 8-8:30am. Please note the fees below.
- Awards - Do-a-DU - Medals for 1st/2nd/3rd male and female
- Awards - Classic - Oak Island package for overall Top Male/Female; medals to 1st in age group (U20 / 20-29 / 30-39 / 40-49 / 50+), male and female
- Prizes - random draw for all registered participants and volunteers -- check at the awards table after you finish the race
- Photographer Narah Comstock ( www.narah.ca ) will be at the Riverport Duathlon taking photos. OVERVIEW
The Bridgewater Triathlon Club is hosting two races consisting of:
- Classic Race, a 4-kilometer run, 28-kilometer bike ride and a 4-kilometer run
- Do-a-Du, a 1-kilometer run, 14-kilometer bike ride and a 1-kilometer run
The races are part of the Triathlon Nova Scotia point series.
The Classic Race’s bike route is a rolling single loop course along Route 332 and Grimm Road used by the Riverport Bicycle Race. There will be a water stop on the run course and at transition.
The Do-a-Du Race’s bike route is a rolling single loop course along Route 332 and Indian Path Road. There will be a water stop in transition.

RACE SCHEDULE
7:30 - 9:00 a.m. Transition Zone Open
7:30- 8:30 a.m. Registration and race kit pick up
7:30- 8:30 a.m. Race Day Registration
8:45 - 8:50 a.m. Classic Race Pre-Race Meeting Riverport Elementary School
9:00 a.m. Classic Race Start
9:15 - 9:20 a.m. Do-a-Du Pre-Race Meeting
9:30 a.m. Do-a-Du Race Start
11:00 a.m. Awards and lunch at the end of the race at the school
REGISTRATION AND ENTRY FEES
7:30am - TNS TABLE: Athletes check in with a TNS Table. If you are not a 2008 TNS member, you must puchase a Triathlon Nova Scotia one-day race membership — $10 for adult. Everyone must have a wrist band from TNS confirming your membership.
7:30am - RACE DAY ENTRIES - Same day entry line up where we collect your race day entry fee, assign your race number. Once done, move onto the REGISTRATION line.
7:30am - REGISTRATION - pre-registered and race day paid entrants to collect their bib numbers.
7:30am - TIMING CHIP - go to Atlantic Chip table to collect your timing area with their bib for their computer chips.
Early Entry Fee, Classic Race : $30 individual, $60 teams
Late Entry Fee Classic Race : $40 (teams $70) after October 15, 2008 at 11:59 pm
Early Entry Fee Do-a-Du Race : $20 individual
Late Entry Fee Do-a-Du Race : $30 individual after October 15, 2008 at 11:59 pm
Entry fees are payable to the Bridgewater Triathlon Club.
If you are not a member of Triathlon Nova Scotia, you must purchase a one day race pass for $10. This will be available at registration on Sunday October 19th.

LOCATION
The Riverport Elementary School is located about a 30-minute drive from exit 11 of Highway 103.
Dressing room changing area is limited. No showers.
DIRECTIONS
About 30 minutes from Highway 103.
- Take Exit 11 from the 103 towards Blockhouse
- Go straight through the first 4-way stop. Drive 11K
- Turn right at the next 4-way stop
- Go straight through the next 4-way stop towards Riverport
- The school is on the right
PARKING
There is parking beside the school. A parking marshall will direct you. Please make sure you are parked before 9am on race day as the run starts on the road.
TIMING
Atlantic Chip Timing will time this race.
RULES
Triathlon Canada Rules apply, including no drafting on the bicycle course.
SWAG
The first 100 registered participants will receive a long-sleeved, mock-neck t-shirt (courtesy of ScotiaMcLeod)
AWARDS
The Male and Female Overall Winners in the Classic Race will receive an overnight package at Oak Island Resort and Spa. Other awards will be presented to the age group winners.
