2010 RACE OVERVIEW

The Bridgewater Triathlon Club is hosting two races on Sunday October 3, 2010 consisting of:

  • Classic – 4-kilometer run, 28-kilometer bike ride and a 4-kilometer run
  • Do-a-DU – 1-kilometer run, 14-kilometer bike ride and a 1-kilometer run

The races are part of the Triathlon Nova Scotia point series. The Classic bike route is a rolling single loop course along Route 332 and Grimm Road used by the Riverport Bicycle Race. There will be a water stop on the run course and at transition. The Do-a-DU bike route is a rolling single loop course along Route 332 and Indian Path Road. There will be a water stop in transition.

8:30 – 10:00 am – Transition Zone 0pen

8:30 – 9:30 – Registration and race kit pick up

9:45 – 9:50 – Classic Pre-Race Meeting

10:00 – Classic Race Start

10:15 – 10:20 – Do-a-DU Pre-Race Meeting

10:30 – Do-a-DU Race Start

12:00 noon – Awards and lunch at the end of the race at the school

ENTRY FEES

Early Entry Fee, Classic Race : $30 individual, $60 teams

Late Entry Fee Classic Race : $40 (teams $70) for any entries received after 6pm on Friday October 1, 2010.

Early Entry Fee Do-a-DU Race : $20 individual

Late Entry Fee Do-a-Du Race : $30 individual after 6pm on Friday October 1, 2010,

Entry fees are payable to the Bridgewater Triathlon Club.

If you are not a member of Triathlon Nova Scotia, you must purchase a one day race pass — $20 for an individual, $30 for a team. This will be available at registration on Sunday October 3rd during registration.

Race day payment — cash or cheque (sorry, no credit cards or Interac)

REGISTRATION

TNS TABLE: Athletes check in with a TNS Table. If you are not a 2010 TNS member, you must purchase a Triathlon Nova Scotia one-day race membership — $20 for adult. Everyone must have a wrist band from TNS confirming your membership.

RACE DAY ENTRIES – Same day entry line up where we collect your race day entry fee, assign your race number. Once done, move onto the REGISTRATION line.

REGISTRATION – pre-registered and race day paid entrants to collect their bib numbers.

TIMING CHIP – go to Atlantic Chip table to collect your timing area with their bib for their computer chips.

LOCATION

The Riverport Elementary School is located about a 30-minute drive from exit 11 of Highway 103. [ map ] Dressing room changing area is limited. No showers.

DIRECTIONS

About 30 minutes from Highway 103.

  • Take Exit 11 from the 103 towards Blockhouse
  • Go straight through the first 4-way stop. Drive 11K
  • Turn right at the next 4-way stop
  • Go straight through the next 4-way stop towards Riverport
  • The school is on the right

PARKING

There is parking beside the school. A parking marshall will direct you. Please make sure you are parked before 10am on race day as the run starts on the road.

TIMING

Atlantic Chip Timing will time this race.

RULES

Triathlon Canada Rules apply, including no drafting on the bicycle course.

  • Classic Race – Top Male and Top Female
  • Classic – Medals to the 1st place Male and Female for under 20, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50+
  • Do-a-DU – Medals to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Male and Female
  • Team – prize to each member of the 1st place team

MEAL

There will be a hot meal served at the Riverport School, starting at approximately 12 noon.

PRIZES

All racers and volunteers are entered into a random prize draw — winners names will be posted on the prize board inside the school.
