Worden-Rogers at 2010 Bridgetown Long Course

[Patrick Hirtle - SouthShoreNow] – Bridgewater Triathlon Club member Cliff Worden-Rogers turned in a remarkable performance in the Bridgetown Triathlon’s Half Ironman on August 1, finishing first overall.

But, as wonderful as the victory was, he will be the first to say that it wasn’t a race that went exactly as expected.

BTCers at 2010 Yarmouth Triathlon

Three BTCers took part in the 2010 Yarmouth Triathlon on Sunday August 8th:

  • Cliff Worden-Rogers (pictured above) was the overall winner in the individual, male category
  • Bev Richardson was the 2nd place female in the 50+ age category
  • Steve Saunders was the 3rd place male in the 50+ age category

It was a new course this year that included a 1500M lake swim, 40k bike route and 10k run loop along Yarmouth’s waterfront.

BTCers at 2010 Bridgetown Triathlon

Eleven BTCers took part in the 2010 Bridgetown Triathlon on Sunday August 1, 2010.

Hilites:

  • Lisa Leahy-McIsaac was 1st in her age group in the Try-a-Tri
  • Liam Patterson was 3rd overall and 3rd in his age group in the Try-a-Tri
  • Janelle Knickle was the 2nd fastest female/1st in her age group in the Sprint
  • Wade McIsaac was 3rd in his age group in the Sprint
  • Ron Allen was 3rd in his age group in the Olympic
  • Cliff Worden-Rogers was 1st overall in the Long Course
  • Tammy Slauenwhite was 2nd in her age group in the Long Course

Liam recognized by Town of Bridgewater for triathlon accomplishments

Along with other local, successful athletes, BTC member — Liam Patterson — was recognized by the Town of Bridgewater for his success in triathlon during the 2009 season.

Congratulations to Liam and we hope you have many more successful years!

And thank you for elevating multi-sport on the local scene.

2009 Club Awards

Warrior award

For 2009, we initiated two club awards:

  • Warrior – for the person who completed the most number of races (any kind, anywhere)
  • Point Series – one to the top male and one to the top female for the total points from their best three triathlons or duathlons

And the winners were …

  • With an unbelievable 31 races from January to October, Dion McKay is the winner of the 2009 Warrior Award
  • The Female Point Series winner is Janelle Knickle with 284 out of 300 points.  (2nd – Tammy Slauenwhite with 274 points, 3rd – Mary Chisholm with 260 points.)
  • The Male Point Series winner is Liam Patterson with 291 out of 300 points.  Liam’s 1st place finish in the last race of the season clinched his Point Series win.  (2nd – Cliff Worden-Rogers with 286 points, 3rd – Dion McKay with 271 points)

Congratulations to the winners and all the participants !!!

For the data junkies ….

  • our 39 club members participated in over 250 races
  • 70% of our members race
  • 30% of the members race more than 10 times
  • 60% of all the races participated in are running races … we’re runners with a need to occasionally swim and bike :-)

Canada’s Whitfield wins ITU Elite Cup triathlon in dramatic run finish

2009 BTC Awards

Medals for Warrior, Point Champion M/F

As we head into the race season, the BTC is pleased to announce three, new club awards for 2009:

  1. Warrior – the person who completes the most races
  2. Points Champion – Female
  3. Points Champion – Male

The intent is to have fun while encouraging participation.  The awards will be presented this fall at our end of season banquet. (and yes, I know there are more than three medals pictured ;-)

Rules:

1. The awards are for 2009 BTC members who have joined by July 15, 2009

2. Eligible races must be completed by October 18, 2009

3. Eligible Warrior Races — swim, bike, run, or other race, anywhere that has an entry and a finish.  Have pride, gotta finish for it to count :-)

4. Eligible Points Champion races — any duathlon or triathlon, anywhere

5. Record keeping is up to you

6. For the Warrior award, please email bridgewatertriclub@gmail.com a list of the races you participated in by Friday Oct 23

7. Points Champion – Female — by Oct 23, please email bridgewatertriclub@gmail.com a list of the races you want counted and include your time and the best female time for your race distance.  ( ie: if you did a Sprint, we need your time and the time of the fastest age group female that did the Sprint).  You have to complete at least three races (duathlon or triathlon) and your point totals will be based on your top 3

8. Points Champion – Male — by Oct 23, please email bridgewatertriclub@gmail.com a list of the races you want counted and include your time and the best male time for your race distance.  ( ie: if you did a Sprint, we need your time and the time of the fastest age group male that did the Sprint).  You have to complete at least three races (duathlon or triathlon) and your point totals will be based on your top 3

9. In the case of a tie — rock, paper, scissors determines the winner

10. The BTC executive reserves the right to change any and all rules at anytime for any reason
